April 16,2011 Pulled the anchor at 7:30 am & said good bye to Ft. Pierce. We swung out of the harbor and into the Intercoastal Waterway (ICW) heading north at mile 966. Enjoyed a very easy pace, 7.5 to 8 knots following the waterway. Traveled along the Indian River & enjoyed the scenery as it went by: Vero Beach, Pine Island, Melbourne, Eau Gallie, Dragon Point (minus the dragon "Annie") & finally Cocoa (mile 897) Found a neat anchorage on the edge of the ICW (Indian Cove) right next to a derelict tramp steamer. Atleast they will be quiet neighbors. Really appreciated the autopilot today. The ICW is very relaxing. We still get excited every time we see the dolphins swimming along our bow. They sure are playful critters. It felt good to handle the boat ourselves (without our captain) He gave us a lot of confidence & now we are able to enjoy our trip more.
