April 12,2011 Left Marathon @ 8 am & headed for the passage under the 7 mile bridge. As we came out from the bridge we realized we're finally in the Atlantic Ocean. We turned north & felt like we're actually heading home. Passed by many beautiful Keys-Vaca, Grassy, Duck & Long Key. The water is so clear you can see the bottom at 20 feet. Our friends, the dolphins, kept swimming by our bow. The temperature got really warm when we started to travel directly down wind (86). As we passed the Matecumbe & Plantation Keys we decided to drop anchor off of Rodriquez Key (thanks to the way point our former owners had already put into the chart plotter). It is a neat little spot off of a small uninhabited mangrove island as the south end of Key Largo. As soon as we got settled we all went into the water & enjoyed a refreshing swim. Gardner got out his snorkeling gear & really poked around. He even found an old dinghy anchor on the bottom that had some cute little blennies (fish) inside. He checked out a crab trap but it was empty. We enjoyed another great meal from the grill:bar-b-qued chicken. It should be a nice night for sleeping,a light breeze & no waves.
