May 8,2011 Happy Mother's Day. Pulled anchor & left Deewees Creek at 9 am. We fell in line right behind two sailboats as we reentered the ICW (mile 455) The cruise today was very easy (& slow) up the Seven Reaches , Price Creek & Four Mile Creek Canal. Came upon two other boats from New England (CT & MA) Cruised by Andersonville, McClellanville & past the South & North Santee Rivers. Decided to anchor in another little creek right off the ICW (Minim Creek mile 415) Tried the east side first but there was not enough water if we wanted to leave other than at high tide. The west side was better & shortly after we anchored Gardner spotted an alligator near the river's edge (He was watching all the feeding birds). It feels like we're in the middle of a bird sanctuary. However, it is very hot & buggy here. We treated ourselves to a deluxe dinner of steak & mushrooms (Gardner was still able to cook it minus the part of the grill that fell overboard). It's amazing what you can do when you need to improvise.
