May 4,2011 Headed out of Bull Creek, into the Cooper River & turned north towards the Chechessee River. Cruised by the Hilton Head Yacht Club & the beautful marinas. Just as we were entering the Port Royal Sound Gardner discovered a lot of water down in his head (flooding). At first he wasn't sure where the water was coming fron. So he instructed Caryl to turn the boat around & go back into the river. Once he figured out it was his toilet overflowing he had Caryl turn the boat around (again) & head back into the Sound. At the same time we discovered a small waterfall coming in through the ceiling at the bottom of the stairway. So while Caryl steered us through Port Royal Sound Gardner did the mop & wipe brigade. It was very windy (24 knots) & very cold (65 degrees). What happened to our beautiful southern weather? We finally entered the Beaufort River & after a few miles ( & a couple of bridges) we found our way to Downtown Marina of Beaufort (mile 537 ICW). We had made reservations previously so we could work on the bow sprit which needed some attention. We were able to hook up with a local mechanic who specializes in "head" problems. After tearing apart most of the lower level of the boat he (& Gardner) found the flooding problem & resolved it. Meanwhile, Caryl did 3 l0ads of laundry & washed down the decks & windows. Needless to say, today was (another) challenging day. But, on the bright side, we are in beautiful historical Beaufort. We took an evening stroll & found a neat little restaurant: "Emily's". Enjoyed a relaxing dinner & strolled along the water front back to our marina. We hope to finish our repair work, go grocery shopping & see more sights tomorrow.
