May 28,2011 Pulled our anchor & headed out of Brigantine Basin, back into the Abescon Inlet & said good bye to Atlantic City. The winds had finally calmed down after 9 pm last evening & it was very pleasant with no wind or waves. Headed out past the 3 mile mark in order to get out of the boat traffic. Cruised past Little Egg inlet, Beach Haven Inlet & Long Beach Island. We saw a couple of interesting fishing boats along the way. We caught a glimpse of Barnaget Inlet (it was very hazy & we were almost three miles off shore) Heard over the VHF about a whale by the Coast Guard station at Barnaget Inlet (it was either injured or dead) Saw a couple of big amusement parks (Seaside Park) before we turned towards shore & into Manasquan inlet. We had picked a marina that was close to the entrance because we did not want to go through the RR bridge (We read lots of horror tales about the bridge closing with 5 seconds warning & the swift currents in the narrow opening) Wouldn't you know we got a "front row seat" for all the craziness of the bridge. Our slip was at the fuel dock (outside) at Hoffman's Marina right in front of the bridge. We walked to town to check things out & then enjoyed a nice seafood dinner at the local waterfront cafe. Early night tonight so we can get off by 7:30 am (they need their fuel dock space) 55 easy miles today (Cruising in the Atlantic is very relaxing)
