May 16,2011 Left our marina at 8 am & headed back out to the Alligator River. As we came around the first corner we entered Albemarle Sound. Off in the distance we saw what we thought were large boats. They turned out to be many deserted duck blinds. It appears duck hunting is big around here. We shot across the Sound in no time (only 12 miles) . We picked the right time to go as it was really calm, with no wind or waves. As we exited the Sound we came into the North River. The river started out pretty wide but ended up (for the last 7 miles) to be a windy, twisty, narrow part of the waterway. As we approached Coinjock Bridge we notified the Coinjock Marina that we were arrving. It was a rather short day (35 miles)but it was good that we got in early (2 pm). By dinner time the entire 1200 foot dock was just about full to capacity. There are some bigggg boats in here (largest so far is 116 feet) They really squeezed us all in (The boat behind us has their anchor hanging over our swim platform). They told us they are filled up almost every night. Did a lot of chores(wash down the decks, vacumn, laundry) & Gardner even got a boat mechanic to finish clearing out the forward head. We're now a two bathroom boat again ! Enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the Marina's restaurant (Gardner had a prime rib so big he couldn't even finish it) Tomorrow it is on to Norfolk. we're at ICW mile 50.
