July 27,2011 We're back in Napatree (Watch Hill) RI after a week in Old Saybrook CT. We spent the time there having the boat worked on (she had a couple of dings in the fiberglass) and visiting all of our doctors. It sure was tiring to go back & forth to New Haven. Don't miss that commute! Over all we both got a clean bill of health so we must be doing something right. Just before we left for Old Saybrook our kids showed up in their sailboat (Taino). They came to Watch Hill for a vacation. They are using the old pram that Gardner had built for our sailboat Blueberry(we called it Pie) You can see they all enjoy sailing it around the harbor here. It was great to return to Watch Hill yesterday. Had a wild thunder storm shortly after we dropped anchor. It is always a little scary to watch the boats start moving on their own (anchor dragging) But the end result was a beautiful double rainbow when the sun came out. Today we did our 14 mile bike ride to the UPS store to pick up our mail. Each time we go we try a new route. The scenery here is so beautiful. In the afternoon we hit the beach for a little while. Then we took our dinghy into shore & picked up the new Westerly Trolley that starting running last week. It is free & it goes from the beach areas (including Misquamicut) into Westerly downtown & back. Had a nice dinner at a new restaurant (The Bridge) & did a little grocery shopping before we hopped back on the Trolley for our return trip. We are getting to see a lot more of the local country side this way. This truly is a great place to have as a summer residence. We plan to be here for a week or so & then head back to Old Saybrook (more appointments, birthday party, etc.)
