June 13,2011 We're under way again. It was an enjoyable time in Old Saybrook-connecting with family & friends. But we had another destination to make. So we left Oak Leaf Marina with the current roaring past us , had to sit for 25 minutes waiting for the Old Lyme Railroad Bridge before heading out into Long island Sound. It sure was nice to cruise along through very familiar territory-past Lyme, Waterford, New London, Noank, Mystic, etc. As we cruised past Seaflower Reef we said "hi" to Uncle Pete (His ashes were scattered there because it was one of his favorite spots in Long Island Sound)Once we saw Latimer Reef Light we knew we were almost there. Stonington Point, with the two breakwaters, welcomed us into the channel leading to Napatree Point. It started to get really cold but we knew our anchorage was just around the corner. Less than a half dozen boats in the anchorage gave us our choice of anywhere we wanted. It was 7 pm when we shut down the engines but since we didn't leave until almost 3 pm it really was a short day-about 24 miles. It is nice to be in our warm & toasty trawler (with heat) Tonight is supposed to get into the 50's with rain predicted for tomorrow. Still, all & all, it is nice to finally be at bark Java's home port.
