April 28,2011 We're back on bark Java and preparing to continue our journey north. Last we reported (April 22) we arrived in St. Mary's GA. We picked up our rental car the next day ( Sat April 23), did some sightseeing & caught up on laundry & grocery shopping. Sunday morning (Easter) we were awakened to the local sunrise service being held 200 yards from our boat at the town park. It was a great way to celebrate Easter from the deck of our boat (in our pajamas!) We took off in the car later in the morning & drove back to Dunedin,FL. Our good friends, Doug & Jan, provided the best "bed & breakfast" . We even joined the group of friends from their community (Westwinds) for a wonderful Easter dinner. Early on Monday morning we headed to Bradenton for the closing on our villa. Delivered Gardner's motorcycle to the house, stopped by our old marina in Cortez & got back to Doug & Jan's in time for another great dinner. Tuesday was moving day! Picked up our Prius at the storage warehouse & met the movers at our house. They had us all moved in within 4 hours (Very efficient) We allowed ourselve the luxury of sleeping one night in our new house. Wednesday morning (April 27th), after closing up the house for the summer,we drove back to St. Mary's. Our boat had been watched over with great care by the dockmaster, Nat Wilson. We had orginally planned to take off today but the weather forecast (and Nat) predicted thunder storms & high winds. So, since we are now "fairweather" boaters, we decided to head out tomorrow. One more day in beautiful St. Mary's. Has a chance to visit the local museums (Cumberland Island National Park & St. Mary's visitor center)The storms never amounted to much (just some rain) but we're glad we didn't need to be out in it. Looking forward to tomorrow & continung our journey.
April 29,2011 Unfortunately, we did not leave St. Mary's afterall. Our lap top's hard drive gave up the ghost just as we were posting this previous information. After many hours on the phone with Dell Gardner gave up trying to get it fixed & decided it was easier to buy a new one. However, this morning we connected with a great little local computer techy,.Dave at Cybertek and 7 hours later he had installed a new hard drive (with XP) and we are back in business. Tomorrow should be a good day!!
